ALL IN!

Thank you for burning the midnight oil at our staff meeting on Wednesday after school. All such helpful information as we grow in our craft and in our knowledge of students...but it was a big day! Thank you for being ALL IN! Still ;)

Tomorrow is Monday (this is our new encore-day language) Groundhogs Day anyone? No? Is everyone too young for that joke???

Grandparents Day

The last time we hosted a full tilt Grandparents/friends Day at Rose Park, which was prior to COVID, we shattered the fire code for crowd size in the big gym. 😲 Since that year, we've added about 70 children to Rose Park's student population! 🎉 ....except...uh oh. No more illegal all-school worship programs at Rose Park.

I've been batting a LOT of ideas around. For those curious to know the scenic journey my brain has been on (for those not curious, skip ahead to the punch line!) ....here are the parameters we're working with. We WILL be holding a spring program this year in April which means Grandparents Day really needs to be in the fall.

I called churches in walking distance hoping we could hold our program in their sanctuaries. No dice. We're too large! 🎉

I thought maybe we could hold a "Hootenanny with Grammy and Grampy" by the barn...but October is really dicey in Michigan.

I thought about just classroom pop ins and call it good. But Grandma and Grandpas' souls are uplifted with the ministry of children's praise...and our children are among the best praisers I know! We can't hide it under a bushel. No! \

We are landing on one chaotic, joy-filled morning as our solution! We'll send our three invitations with the following times/events:

Thursday, October 27

        Preschool
  • 8:30-8:55 classroom
  • 9:15-9:30 program
K-2nd
  • 9:45-10:00 program
  • 10:15-10:45 classroom
3-5th
  • 10:15-10:45 classroom
  • 11:00-11:15 program
What say you, my friends?

Lunch Room

I apologize for all of the changes coming your way that seem like they could have been anticipated better. Due to the massive mess that gets created in the WELL and not enough staff to clean the mess adequately every day, we are rerouting our eating plan yet again. Beginning tomorrow, we will eat in our classrooms again. The chart below offers the task list and the responsibilities. You'll see at the classroom level we're asking students and teachers to use the same process to pick up food from the kitchen by the WELL (I'm sorry 3rd, 4th and 5th...we don't have enough staff to open the second kitchen in the upper elementary hallway. Feel free to trade walking hot lunch lines to the kitchen with grade level partners). Teachers and students are asked to take all food garbage and items out of the classroom and clean desks. We'll use the same cleaning supplies as last year. The refill stations will be prepped and ready for your needs. Got questions? Please ask!

Data Meetings

As you are collecting your students' running records, please enter each score here. May I barge into your grade level planning time on Thursday, September 22 for our grade level data meetings?

Spare Laptops

If you leave sub plans that require a laptop for video sharing or other needs, we'll need you to please leave yours for the guest teacher....or an iPad. We have zero spare laptops right now.

GOALS!

Finally, circling back to the discussion Doug led at our staff meeting, would you please update your account at Effective Educators with your 3-5 goals? I am happy to help you navigate this. All teaching faculty at HC are asked to select 3-5 goals from the starred points:

Science Supplies

We have Science supplies for the taking! If you have a tub in the office, please claim the tub or take the items you'd like to be placed in your supply stash.

FINALLY (are you still with me?)!!!! Your Special Dates

If your class or grade level has special events coming up (especially those that require set up, room arrangement, audio/visual needs) please jot an email to Carla/Laura to be placed on the calendar so we can support you with your needs.
