Where's Winter?

I certainly don't want to be the resident nag. I think we just need an accepted practice for our dirty dishes in the staff center. After asking around a bit, it seems we have a variety of thoughts on the responsibilities for who does the staff dishes here at Rose Park. I checked our job descriptions. Washing dishes isn't on anyone :) SO! Shall we all agree just to quickly wash our own dishes? If we collectively desire a different practice, I'm entirely happy to facilitate a conversation. We just need to do something so we don't collect crusty cups in the sink ;) Thanks, all!

MLK Jr. Day

Monday is the day we commemorate MLK Jr Day and our journey as a country toward exemplifying Christ commission and social justice needs in our society. This learning is transformational for our students' hearts particularly in their formative years. We don't have school on Monday (is that a news flash for you? 😅) Stacey Hollebeek would like to share out the learning experiences happening across our district related to MLK Jr. Day. If you have something unique or special planned, would you please email Stacey or me? She might pop in to take a few quick pix to capture the learning our students are engaged in. Thank you!

Mark your calendars!
  • Orchestra Concert February 19 from 12:40-1:00. This will take the place of chapel at our regularly scheduled time.
  • Market Day February 26
Farm Connections

At our next staff meeting, we're going to engage in some more design thinking regarding our farm. I'm wondering if we can start to collect our initial thoughts, proposals and grade-level curricular content connections with the farm. This document can be messy because we're just in the exploratory/design phase. In my mind, each grade would take a farm "chore" during recess time: bird feeder maintenance, butterfly garden keeper, goat herder, etc. You'll see some of my initial brainstorms on the doc. Would you be willing to list some of the learning and teaching points your students currently engage with that could be enriched or deepened with a real live mini-farm? If this doesn't make sense or you'd like clarification, let's talk! Thank you!

JUST A FRIENDLY REMINDER...that our school day begins at 8:15.  The first bell rings at 8:10, and students start working at 8:15.  We've had a few latecomers this past week and that makes it difficult to give your kids the quality education that they deserve.  If you need to set the alarm a few minutes earlier or leave the house sooner, we'd appreciate that effort in getting to school in a timely manner.  Thanks for your attention and support in this area! We truly make good use of every minute your child is in school. :)

Hoops & Hoopla 2020!  It’s a night of hoops, featuring the dueling staff basketball teams of ZCS and HCS, along with 56ers scrimmages and a Unified slam dunk contest.  Come also for the hoopla– photos with Elsa, Anna & friends, carnival games, bounce houses, and more, on Saturday, February 1, starting at 6:15 pm at Holland Christian High School.  All this family fun for a suggested donation of $5 ($20 per family). Proceeds of this game will go to help make the HCHS band & orchestra trip to Florida in April affordable for the over 90 students participating.
