If you would like to engage your students in learning and proposing their ideas along this process, we need a building site for our mini-farm. Where should this be situated on our property? We want the animals to be safe on our property and accessible for playing with and completing chores. Feel free to use this map:
We could also use a barn design that keeps the goats away from the chicken feed to prevent bloat. Two goats needs 100 square feet of barn space. Three chicken and two bunnies need 100 square feet of living space. Any and all designs are accepted!
Discovery Night
Please plan to attend the 5:30-7:00 Discovery Night extravaganza next Tuesday evening. We will learn our assignment duties from Courtney soon! Thank you for participating in this event. You be YOU and parents will fall in love with this learning community!
Enrollment
As we approach this enrollment season, please be in prayer for the families who are considering joining our HC community. May God shine through our words and efforts so that He may be made known to His children! It's a JOY to serve with you and expand our mission field!
Metal Keys No More
Our metal keys to the building will soon be obsolete. Your classroom key will open and lock your classroom door. The metal key mechanisms will be disabled or removed...likely at some point in February. If you need a key card, please let me or Nona know. We'll get those to you soon!

Makers Month
I'm shaping up some ideas for our new Makers Month possibilities. Check this out! The ISD has kits available for us to use! I've requested a training session on three of these so I can take the materials back to our science room and launch out temporary Makers Space!
Tulip Time Choices
Here is the verbiage that will be published in our blog to parents tomorrow:
In 2018, Tulip Time reframed their mission statement to read "Mission Statement: To celebrate Holland’s tulips, Dutch heritage and community." To better align ourselves with their mission statement as well as with the goals here at Holland Christian our Rose Park and Forest School students will be given two options for dressing up and walking in the the 2020 Kinderparade. More details will be forthcoming as we get closer to Tulip Time but we want you to be aware of the options well in advance of the Tulip Time season. Our students from Rose Park and Forest School will be given the option of walking in either our new "tulip" section of the parade or our "Dutch heritage" section. The whole of our two groups walking together will be a celebration of our "community".
- If your first through fourth grade student chooses to opt into the "tulip" section of our parade, your child will design and construct his or her own tulip to carry and then dress as a gardener based around our Living Testimony t-shirt. This gardener costume might include gardening boots and gloves, overalls, a wide-brimmed hat, etc. Anything you have handy at home that helps your child look like a busy gardener tilling the tulips will fit the part perfectly!
- Students who opt into the "Dutch heritage" portion of our student body will wear their own dutch costume and carry the parade props our Rose Park students have carried in the past.
