Teacher Goals

Some of you have already received an emailed notice from Effective Educator from my pop in. This is a first round pop in. You'll notice on that check list that not nearly all of the heart, faith, intentionality you bring to your learning environment will be represented on this 10 minute pop in. That is as it should be. It serves just as a first round fly by. This is true for all first round pop ins for teachers at HC preschool-12th grade. Our next round will be a fuller picture of your work. If you would please select your goals by Reformation Day as well. This video can help you navigate how to select goals in Effective Educator. 

Hoedown

We're going to celebrate ALL of our friends and the way they are uniquely created! Specifically, next Thursday is our Down Syndrome Awareness Celebration. We will enjoy a Hoedown together on Wednesday, October 12. We'll meet on the grassy field in the same area we were dancing last year. The fun will begin at 2:20 and wrap up right around 2:50. We're going to be treated to a celebratory talk about the beauty in the tapestry of God's creation and then a line dance led by Mrs. Gillette and Our High School ESS Team. Feel free to wear whatever hoedown duds you have! 

Orchestra Concert

On Monday, October 17 our 8th Grade orchestra musicians would like to treat us to a brief concert. We don't have a day clear of any and all encore anymore so we're scheduling the concert on Monday afternoon the 17th! Let's do recess from 1:35-1:50. The concert will begin in the WELL at 2:00. This interrupts first grade encore time/planning time. Encore teachers who have first grade students on the afternoon of the 17th, would you be willing to take the first graders to the concert for the start? I want to try to honor the first grade planning time and collaboration efforts while allowing all of the students the joy of the concert! 

Events 

WOW! We have a LOT! If you are planning an event that is outside of your classroom AND needs Nona's awareness, please be sure to email her the info. We have A LOT coming on the other side of CEA days: Thanksgiving, Christmas, autumn fun....please be sure to look ahead and give Carla or Laura/Nona a heads up if you need alternate spaces. 

Parent Teacher Conferences

We're testing the water with parent appetite for virtual conferences on Wednesday, October 19 in the afternoon. Charlie has requested we use the GoTo platform. Please follow these instructions as this program is new to us! It might be wise to try this out on grade level partners, friends and neighbors before attempting this during conferences. If you have parents uncomfortable with virtual and Monday evening doesn't work for them, please feel free to hold the conference in person per their reference. 

This is an oldie but goodie. Our conversations are truly celebrations of the gift of each child's life! Please begin with each parent in prayer of thanksgiving, celebrate the joy they bring to your classroom environment and share a tidbit that parents could support from home if that would be helpful for the child's growth. Here is a graphic with a few suggestions as you navigate the conference time together:

I will be in the office at Rose Park for part of the time as well as at Forest School for some of the time. I'm ready to help support or connect with anyone if that is a help to you. Text me to find me if it looks like nobody is home! 

I will be in prayer for each of you during these evenings. It takes a GREAT deal of stamina to remain engaged, enthused and energetic after teaching ALL day. Thank you for sharing your heart, stories and passion for each child. Please let me know how/when I can support you!
