Tiptoeing (or sprinting) into May

Whether you make it downtown in the next week or simply out for a walk, I pray you enjoy the intricate beauty of springtime our Maker is unfolding all around us!

May 5

Our friends in Spanish Immersion will be treating Rose Park to a presentation/celebration of Cinco de Mayo! Plan for this event to take place right around 8:30 outside. We'll provide the finer details as soon as they're ready!

Please plan to come out to the front door of Rose Park by 12:40. We'll be assigned buses and head for the pond between the high school and middle school. Shortly after 1:00, we'll be treated to a 'parade' by our high school band and dutch dancers! We should return to school ROUGHLY around 2:00.

And? Because no epic day would be complete without a staff meeting, let's get together in the media center for a staff meeting from 3:30-4:15 please. Treats and smiles provided!

Plant Sale

"Get your plants here!" On Friday morning, May 7, the 4th graders (in conjunction with the HCHS life skills students), will be hosting a plant sale at Rose Park near the front entrance.  Please plan to purchase your tomato, pepper, and herb plants then!  Nutrient rich worm castings, created right at Rose Park, will also be available as fertilizer.  Spread the word - watch for more details to come!

June 2

The parent team would like to express their celebration and excitement for an amazing year of in person learning and living. They are arranging a bouncy house to be placed on our playground. This is preliminary planning but I know calendars can get pretty booked up this time of year! June 2 is the date they are trying to arrange this treat for our kids. We'll likely create a sign up genius and have one class at a time enjoy the jumping for about 20 minutes or so.

Field Day

Julie is arranging our Field Day and has decided the three 2nd grades and the 3rd grade will enjoy field day on the 25th in the afternoon.  K and 1st are on the 26th as is the 4th and 5th.  The time for those two have not been settled yet. June 2nd is the rain date for whoever needs it at that time.

May is Asian Awareness Month

Here is a resource that may be helpful as you look at your plans for the month of May!

Kindergarten Visiting Day

We have THREE classes of kindergarten next year:
  • Mrs. Brouwer teaching 5-day
  • Maestra Klipp-Lopez teaching Spanish Immersion
  • Mrs. Bos teaching 3-day
Each teacher will be meeting for 15 minutes with every one of their students throughout the day on May 14. They will be locating themselves either in the media center or on the playground. Feel free to offer our new kinders who will be coming and going that day a big, warm HELLO!
